My Background
I trained in acupuncture on a 3 year, full-time degree course at the International College of Oriental Medicine. My course provided a thorough grounding in acupuncture theory and supervised practice, incorporating Stems and Branches and 5 Element systems of acupuncture, alongside Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It also covered compulsory study of the core health sciences, practitioner development and research skills. My two research projects focused on migraine and sleep.
Since qualifying, I've gained valuable practical knowledge and experience through working in private, multidisciplinary clinics in Sussex for a number of years. Before moving to North Somerset, I was also a volunteer acupuncturist at the Brighton-based MacMillan Horizon Centre and the Olive Tree Cancer Support Centre in Crawley for several years, supporting many cancer patients before, during and after their treatments.
I have extensive experience in working holistically and sensitively with adults and young people to relieve both physical pain and emotional distress, which can happen for a great number of reasons. I'm inspired by the holistic approach that acupuncture takes towards patient care. I really enjoy helping my patients take positive steps towards feeling better and improving their health and wellbeing through acupuncture.
I'm committed to continuing my professional development by further training and research into advancements in the field of Chinese Medicine, to update and deepen my skills and knowledge.
I'm a licensed Acupuncture Practitioner and, as a fully insured member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC), I abide by their strict Codes of Professional Conduct, Safe Practice and Ethics.
